Registration THIS WEEK for Crimsons against Cancer Dance Marathon. Registration is $20 a person, (includes shirt) and ends Friday, March 2. Dance Marathon is a 6 hour dance marathon to raise money for pediatric cancer research at U of L. This includes games, food and other fun activities on March 16th from 5:00-11:00.

• LOCATION CHANGE - Mark your calendars: the Publishers’ annual Trivia Night fundraiser is coming up on Saturday March 3 at Highland Community Ministries, 1228 E. Breckenridge St., 40204. Please email vaughnpbell@att.net to reserve your table.
There will be ten questions in ten different categories. As in previous years, all questions will be written by Mr. Miller. This year the categories are:

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the first question will be read promptly at 6:30 p.m. First place team wins $200! The cost: $15 per seat (8 seats per table/$120 per table). Special student rate: $100 for a full table! Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
Chili, snacks, desserts, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Adult beverages will also be available for purchase for anyone over 21 with a valid ID. As in years past, there will also be a silent auction of gift baskets prepared by the J&C publication staffs.

• Science Fair Judges needed for Regional Science Fair!
Its that time of the year again. We need about 200 people to help serve as judges for our Manual Regional Science Fair. Our fair continues to grow and we really need your help. The Fair will be held on Saturday, March 10th. If you could please register at https://dupontmanual.stemwizard.com/public_site/judge_register, we would greatly appreciate your support. Please pass on this information to anyone you think will be qualified to judge the fair. Thanks for your support.

• Louisville Academy - Students attend 1/2 day at Manual and 1/2 day at U of L. Students are considered students at both schools and benefit from privileges of both. (Criteria: Completed sophomore year of high school and scored at least a 28 on the ACT.) Please get Applications in the Main Office and must be submitted by March 16.

• StAMINA is a student-driven, bottom-up initiative aiming to improve KY students' mental health.
One part of our initiative is a conference for Kentucky students, during which we'll have fun, collaborative activities and productive group discussions about mental health. Especially in light of the recent shootings, which we believe are deeply connected to mental health, we're hoping to raise awareness and change the conversation surrounding the issue. (Please see attached flier for details) The conference, which will be on Tuesday, 3/13, from 5-8 p.m. is open to all KY youth.

• Pies for Pi –The MST Catalysts will be honoring Manual and YPAS teachers and staff on Wednesday, March 14th for Pi Day. We will be serving pies and beverages to the entire staff. Please consider donating a pie or other supply, it’s as simple as 3.141592… Click on this link to sign up:

• YPAS would like to invite your 10-14 year old students to participate in this year's Clint Vaught Young Actors Institute June 4-15. It is an experience in which your student will get the opportunity to participate in a theatrical program that demonstrates a professional level of customer service, with reliable, up-to-date, and emerging performing art techniques. Your students will attend daily classes in Scene Study, Improvisation, Make-Up, Stage Combat, and Theatrical Movement. These skills will culminate in to a 30- minute production of Aladdin Kids on the last day of the camp. Seniors - WE DO NOT HAVE GRADUATION DATE YET - but, Don't plan anything for the evening of graduation. Plan on attending the Project Graduation After-Party. Project Graduation After-Party 2018 is a free event for Manual's seniors with music, fun, and games from 12-5 AM.
TO: SENIORS & PARENTS OF SENIORS
We will be continuing the great tradition of The Graduation Keynote Address Competition that was kicked off in 2014 by the first winner, Christopher Bird. All students interested in being the voice of the class of 2018 are encouraged to audition. We are looking for creativity, character, and charisma.
Here are some of the details:
• Speeches must remain within a 5-minute timeframe.
• Feel free to be creative and think of this as a spoken word poem or performance.
• An electronic copy of the speech must be emailed to Ms. Williams by March 16th or the student will be disqualified.
• Seniors must go to room 352 after school, from March 1 to 14, to schedule a specific audition time.
• All auditions will occur on March 20th while the juniors take the ACT and seniors have a potential day of service.
Any senior interested should come pick up an information packet in room 352 before school, after school, or during Red 1. Be sure to leave your name and an email address with Ms. Williams so she can contact you in the future.
