If you haven't yet purchased tickets to the Crimson Mission 2019 Growing the Mission Gala, please do so today. The Gala is this Saturday, March 9th. Please use the link below to purchase:
Mission Gala Ticket Link
The money raised at the Gala this year will help pay for infrastructure for the Crimson Mission and will help build a Development Office.
Your contributions will further enable the Crimson Mission to meet the needs of Manual students in all magnets.
Just as the Crimson Mission has done by helping create the Manual Achievement Center. And by helping the Manual Athletic Department build a new fieldhouse (coming soon). And by creating the new, 21st century Honeycomb technology lab (coming on-line before the end of this school year).
And you'll also have the opportunity to get some very cool items, such as:
A bottle of Pappy Van Winkle
A suite at the YUM Center for a Cards game
A parking spot in the Manual Courtyard
Parents: Please consider helping The Crimson Mission (non-profit 501(c) organization) help Manual. The Crimson Mission needs auction items for this year’s annual March gala event. Some donation ideas are gift cards (restaurant services, shopping, airline, Uber and gas cards); adult beverages (craft beer, wine and bourbon) and entertainment events (Derby tickets, concerts, plays, sports, museum visits, glass blowing and paint & sip.) All proceeds from the auction will be used to benefit Manual, via the Crimson Mission. For auction donation communication, please contact Kelly Hanson at tkhanson1998@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!
We will be continuing the great tradition of The Graduation Keynote Address Competition that was kicked off in 2014 by the first winner, Christopher Bird. All students interested in being the voice of the class of 2019 are encouraged to audition. We are looking for creativity, character, and charisma.
Here are some of the details:
Speeches must remain within a 5-minute timeframe.
Feel free to be creative and think of this as a spoken word poem or performance. (Can you be innovative and devise a spoken
word for two voices? Yes, that means you may have a partner.)
An electronic copy of the speech must be emailed to Ms. Williams by March 8th or the student will be disqualified.
Seniors must email Ms. Williams, from February 25 to March 7, to schedule a specific audition time.
All auditions will occur on March 12th while the juniors take the ACT and seniors have a potential day of service.
Anyone interested should come pick up an information packet in room 352 before school, after school, or during Red 1. Be sure to leave your name and an email address with Ms. Williams so she can contact you in the future.

Sunday, March 17 | Highland Community Ministries |Doors open at 5 p.m. | First question at 6 p.m.
There will be ten questions in ten different categories. As in previous years, all questions will be written by Mr. Miller. This year's categories are:

This year, for the first time, we’re offering a special opportunity to buy your own category for $500. That donation will get Mr. Miller to create ten questions on any topic you choose! Your $500 donation will also buy a table for your team. The deadline for this option is Friday, March 8.
First place team wins $200!
The cost: $20 per seat (8 seats per table/$160 per table) for adults; $15 per seat ($120 per table) for students. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Mulligans will be available for $10 per sheet at the door. Make your check out to The Publishers and either have your student take the check to Mr. Miller or drop it in the mail to: Robyn Senn, Membership Chair | 802 Locust Pointe Place | Louisville, KY 40245.
Pizza, chili, snacks, desserts, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. And, there will be a silent auction of gift baskets prepared by the J&C publication staffs.
Do you speak my language? duPont Manual’s art and literacy magazine, One Blue Wall, is looking for writing, art and photography focused on language and/or culture relating to being a first, second or third generation immigrant or person of color. Pieces that use AAVE or are bilingual are acceptable. Selected pieces will be published in a small magazine and distributed throughout Louisville with cash prizes for our favorites! Submit at onebluewallmagazine.com or email submissions to onebluewall@live.com. Contact Eli Pajo at eli.pajo@manualjc.com for more information.
