Governor’s Cup, founded in 1986 as a way to promote, reward and recognize outstanding academic achievement, is the state’s premier academic event, involving over 20,000 students, nearly 1,200 schools, and thousands of coaches, administrators, parents and community leaders. It consists of 8 events:
- Five Written Assessment Examinations – in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts and Arts/Humanities
- Composition – On-Demand Writing
- Quick Recall
- Future Problem Solving – an award-winning creative thinking competition
At the District competition in January, Manual placed 1st in Quick Recall, 1st in Future Problem Solving, and 1st in overall number of points. Manual students scored 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in almost all of the Written Assessment categories – it was a sweep!
Manual dominated again at the recent Governor’s Cup Regionals, taking 1st place overall with 68.5 points, with J. Graham Brown a distant 2nd place with 13.5 points.
State competition is March 17-19; results will be posted here by 7pm on March 19th. Go Rams!
Thanks Abby Gordon & Ms. Shiroma for sharing the good news!
