Catalyst Update for May 2016

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD CAMP: The Manual Science Olympiad Team is running their annual SciOly camp June 6-June 10. Please spread the word to middle schoolers and rising 9th graders who may be interested in learning more about Science Olympiad competition and improving their SciOly skills. Register here. MST CAMP: This year’s MST camp for incoming 9th graders will take place July 25-29. Please contact Mr. Zwanzig if your incoming 9th grader would like to attend or if your current Manual student would like to volunteer.

MST Magnet News

MST OPEN HOUSE for incoming 9th graders and their families: On April 21 from 6:00-7:30pm in the auditorium, MST teachers, MST students, and Catalysts board members will be available to provide insight and answer questions for the incoming 9th graders. The program will start with a short introduction and will continue with a Q & A session. Spirit wear will be available.

CPK FUNDRAISER: Please support the Catalysts and the MST magnet and enjoy dinner at California Pizza Kitchen at Oxmoor Mall on May 16, 4:30-9:00pm. A great night to visit with family and friends especially since there is no school the next day! Please download and bring in this flyer.

PI DAY DESSERTS: Thank you to all of the families that donated pies for Pi Day. All of the teachers and staff enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate the day! Also, thank you to the Mays Family for donating the coffee from Heine Brothers.

Prepare to be impressed by our science students!

KY-SEF 2016

The 14th Annual Kentucky Science and Engineering Fair (KY-SEF) was held in Richmond, Kentucky, on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Nearly 300 of the finest young scientists from grades 5-12 from across the state competed for awards and scholarships. The senior high school competition is affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) and the best senior high projects from the statewide KY-SEF will be entered in the Intel ISEF competition in Phoenix, AZ in May 2016.
