Leadership Change at duPont Manual

duPont Manual’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a neutral body which serves to support our students and parents with relevant information as they navigate through high school. We are releasing what we know regarding the reassignment of Manual’s Principal Gerald Mayes.

Based on the results of the investigation conducted by an outside investigator, Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio has decided to reassign Jerry Mayes to a non-instructional position within the district, effectively immediately.

Assistant Principal Greg Kuhn will work with Dr. Glenn Baete, Superintendent of High Schools, during the transition to oversee the daily operations of the school. The search for a new leader will begin right away, with Dr. Baete working collaboratively with the School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council to choose a new principal.

Manual is the #1 rated public high school in Kentucky, and witnessed a record breaking year for admissions – with 1,283 students applying and 485 freshman accepted for the 2018-19 academic year. Across the student body, ACT scores climbed to an average of 28, affirming what an outstanding academic institution we are.

We would like to express our thanks to Mr. Mayes for his 37 years of service thus far, as well as his active support of PTSA initiatives and programs and his devotion to our success in serving our Manual community. Please join us in helping our student body move forward.
