SBDM

School-based decision-making (SBDM) was mandated by state law in 1990 to promote shared leadership among those who are closest to the students. Membership of each council includes parents, teachers and an administrator of the school. The council has the responsibility to set school policy and make decisions in many areas, including curriculum, staff and student assignment, school schedules, use of school space, instructional practices, student discipline, and extracurricular programming.

2017 SBDM Nominations

There is an opening for Parent Representative on the SBDM Council. We have 2 SBDM Parent Representatives who each serve a 2 year term; the terms are staggered so there is an opening and election held each year. The nominee for the upcoming election must have a child enrolled at Manual for the 2017-2018 AND 2018-2019 school years. Nominations for the Parent Representative (2017-2019) are due April 11, 2017. Please click here for more details.

SBDM Parent Representative Election Process and Voting

SBDM Elections will be held online from Monday, May 1st through Thursday, May 4th at 11:59pm. The link to vote will be shared in the school announcements email, on the SBDM page of Manual’s website, and in the PTSA Facebook group. You may vote if you are the parent, step-parent, foster parent or legal guardian of a student who will be attending duPont Manual High School during the 2017-2018 school year.

There will also be an opportunity for an online forum through the PTSA Facebook group/page on Monday, May 1, so please bring any questions you may have for the candidates and join us at 6:30pm; the responses will continue through the close of voting on Thursday. Please contact Vidya Ravichandran with any questions. Check back here for the candidates and their resumes after April 19th.
