Want to use your voice for the benefit of our Manual community?
There is an opening for Parent Representative on the SBDM Council. We have two SBDM Parent Representatives who each serve a 2 year term; the terms are staggered so there is an opening and election held each year. The nominee for the upcoming election must have a child enrolled at Manual for the 2017-2018 AND 2018-2019 school years. Nominations for the Parent Representative (2017-2019) are due April 11, 2017. Please visit our SBDM page for more details or click here for the nomination form.
Read what Shannon Evans, SBDM Parent Rep wrapping up her term this year, has to say about her involvement:
As one of two SBDM parent representatives at duPont Manual High School, I have truly enjoyed being a part of this group. The Council has the responsibility of setting school policy that is consistent with JCPS policy. We also work hard to provide an environment to enhance every student’s and teacher’s achievements and help Manual meet its goals. We are responsible for approving budgets and also implementing new policies that are used in everyday classroom environments. I have been committed to listening to students, teachers, and parents and taking any concerns or accolades discussed with me to our Council. This role is not extremely demanding of my time but an important one. We meet once a month and occasionally have special called meetings. I wanted to be a part of this group in hopes of helping everyone in our Crimson family feel like they had a voice in me. I would encourage anyone who loves our Manual family to run for SBDM parent representative. It is a truly rewarding experience.
