If you like an underdog story, you have to root for this squad. There are 108 teams in the tournament and we are seeded #108. We qualified for the tournament under an exemption for teams that had no opponents within 200 miles to play.
If you have never seen squash played at the high school level, check out the highlights of a match between Henry Robbins and Will Hendon, a British 19 year old player who graduated a year earlier and was ranked #44 in Britain when he graduated.
Our first opponent is #4 seed Gonzaga from Washington DC (think St. X on steriods), Friday at 1:00pm.
Tournament results and insightful analysis about team progress in the tournament will be posted here:
Ours is the only team in the national tournament to have a higher team GPA than our squash ability rating.
Div II matches will be held at Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, PA on land formerly owned by John duPont, relative of Manual’s founder. duPont shot and killed Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz on this site in 1996.
