Welcome YPAS Counselor Kevin Fowler

Kevin FowlerI recently reached out to our new counselors, Kevin Fowler and Amy Meeron, and asked them to share a bit about themselves. From Mr. Fowler:

I am so excited to have the chance to serve the duPont Manual community as the new counselor of YPAS. While I am new to the role at YPAS, I am not new to the Manual experience. I have a son who graduated from the piano magnet and another son currently in the band magnet at YPAS. I will certainly draw on my experiences as a Manual parent as I support students and their families in this outstanding high school.

As a “Louisvillian” my entire life, I am also a proud graduate of the Jefferson County Public Schools. I graduated from Pleasure Ridge Park High School where I participated in the band program and performed in three musicals: Grease, West Side Story, and Camelot. While performing in the role of King Arthur, I had a fantastic meeting with Richard Harris who just happened to be starring in the role of King Arthur for the Broadway production when it made a tour stop in Louisville. Mr. Harris allowed our cast to meet him back stage after his performance – an incredible WOW moment in my life.

After high school I attended the University of Kentucky on a music scholarship. I played in the University of Kentucky symphonic band, orchestra, marching band, pep band, and sang in the choristers and the SophistoCATS. While at UK, I decided to change my major from music performance and to focus on education. I just had this desire to help people in a different capacity and thus began my journey to becoming a school counselor. I have been a counselor in JCPS for nearly 10 years. I so welcome the opportunity to serve as the YPAS Counselor. The parents and students I have met have been so gracious and kind. Please do not be a stranger and always communicate. Communication is the key to successful collaboration among all stakeholders. Here’s to a great year!!
