Club Spotlight: Mu Alpha Theta

Teacher Sponsors: Mr. Tim Salkeld and Mr. Eric Purvis

What is the Mission of the Club at Manual? Inspire keen interest in mathematics, develop strong scholarship in the subject, and promote the enjoyment of mathematics.

What are the requirements to becoming a member? When do they meet? Members must hold at least a 3.5 cumulative unweighted GPA in math classes and a 3.0 cumulative unweighted GPA overall, attend all meetings and tests, and complete at least eight math-related service hours. The club meets on Fridays.

How many students can be in the club? We have no cap on the number of members.

What activities are planned for Mu Alpha Theta? We offer math tutoring at Manual and local middle schools.

What are some of the goals for the year? We have an exceptionally large club this year so we hope that the combined tutoring and service of all our members can reach out to a wider student base than ever before.

Why do you think students should consider applying to Mu Alpha Theta? If you love math, apply to our club!
