Thank you to everyone who took the time to cast a vote for a parent representative for the principal recommendation committee. With over 26% of the votes, Elizabeth Mays has been elected to serve.
Elizabeth has worked in the public education realm for many years – as a JCPS teacher, Community Outreach Director for Teach Kentucky, and Education Outreach Director for EdjAnalytics. Her board service includes the Jefferson County Public Education Foundation, Young Authors Greenhouse, and KMAC Museum, where she served for 10 years, including 2 years as President. During her tenure as President, she led the process of hiring a new Executive Director.
Elizabeth and her husband Mike, a successful entrepreneur and owner of Heine Brothers’ Coffee, have four children: Ella (duPont Manual Class of 2018), Jess (duPont Manual Junior), Marjorie (duPont Manual Freshman), Silas (Meyzeek 7th grader).
Elizabeth wrote: “I have a passion for public education and understand the importance of schools having strong leadership that unites the entire school community. I am familiar with current trends in education, as well as the challenges. I believe that the combination of my work in education and my non-profit experience would be valuable to the committee.”
Please join me in congratulating Elizabeth and thanking her for her willingness to invest her time and energy in this important role.
