Scholarships and Opportunities: Week of April 18

University Tutor Scholarship:

Valued at $1,000. University Tutor holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students write a short essay in response to a monthly prompt. The submitted essays are reviewed by University Tutor staff at the end of the month and one winner is chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship. Interested students can enter the contest here.

Aspiring Business Professional Scholarship:

Valued at $1,000. Awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a business degree at any accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit this link and find the scholarship located at the right side of the page and click on it.

Lily Banerjee Scholarship:

Valued at $1,000. For graduating seniors that have a commitment to serving others, at least 2.5 GPA, will be attending a Kentucky college/university, technical school, or other institution of higher learning, and attended Wheatley Elementary School for at least two years (does not have to be consecutively).

The scholarship application and all supporting materials must be delivered to Guidance Services at 3332 Newburg Road, VanHoose Education Center, 3rd floor by April 22, 2016.

The application must be typed in its entirety, provide a personal essay explaining his/her needs and reason wanting to further their education and their goal for the future.  Also, one counselor recommendation and two teacher recommendations are required.

Wooldridge Family Scholarship:

Valued at $250. This scholarship is a one-time gift given to a duPont Manual/ YPAS graduating senior who will be attending a Christian University, Christian College or pursuing the ministry. The scholarship is in honor of Donald C. (1952) and presented by Larry A. Wooldridge (Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Principal 2002-2013), Denise Wooldridge, Ian Wooldridge (2011), Andy Wooldridge (2012), and Riley Wooldridge. Interested applicants must submit a resume and an essay of 250 words or less detailing why they are attending a Christian school or pursuing the ministry.  A committee will select an annual recipient and the award will be presented at the annual “duPont Manual Senior Award Night.”

Please submit your essay and resume to Mr. Robinson no later than the close of school on Tuesday April 19, 2016.
