Senior class officers sponsor VOA book drive

As the first of many volunteer initiatives, the Senior Class of 2016 is partnering with the Volunteers of America organization to conduct a book drive for the upcoming holiday season. Volunteers of America is a “national, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need live healthy, safe and productive lives.” Active since 1896, this organization has “empowered America’s most vulnerable groups”, such as veterans, seniors, the disabled, at-risk youth, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals/families, and those in rehabilitation. Therefore, the duPont Manual class of 2016 will be hosting a book drive from December 3 through December 16, with hopes to collect books for the library at the organization’s homeless shelter.

Collection bins will be placed in hallways as well as in participating teachers’ rooms. VOA would like to emphasize that these books are to be new or in new condition, and that they are mainly for entertainment, rather than educational purposes. If you are able to help the Class of 2016 and Volunteers of America serve the community this holiday season, please drop off donations in the collection bins located throughout the school. Your support is greatly appreciated!
